Can’t stay away from airports

The title says it all.

So, there you go, this is my Airport timeline, I definitely don’t have pictures of every single time I said goodbye to a family member or greeted a friend at the Airport, but I will always have those memories.

Only if I got a nickel for every time I went to an Airport.

You could write a guidebook to airports!

  2. vimal says:

why do you travel so much?
    job?

    • Marcos C. says:

It’s mostly for school, I study in the United States and my family is from Brazil, so I go back and fourth usually once or twice a year, and I have many friends who do the same, so I like going to the airport to say goodbye.

  3. Marilyn says:

Love this! Have you read Alain de Botton’s book on airports or the Art of Travel?

    • Marcos C. says:

I haven’t read it yet, however, I heard great things about it, and I was looking for it on Amazon just the other day, did you like it?

      • Marilyn says:

I did! He’s written another shorter book called A Week at the Airport where he speaks to airports being the cultural centers of the world. It’s a global nomads book. In the Art of Travel he begins by speaking of anticipation in the art of travel…good insight and enjoyable. I did a blog post on anticipation in the art of travel after I read it.

      • Marcos C. says:

I’m gonna look for those books, thank you so much for the suggestion, it would be a great thing to do when I’m waiting for my next flight.

  4. Olivia Mair says:

Funny! I’d love a dollar for every time I’ve been in an airport, it could fund my next trip! Here’s to many more visits for both of us!

  5. Iris says:

You’re quite the traveler then, aren’t you?!
Actually quite a good idea, to take photos at the airport everytime.. I’ve seen so many too!

  6. KY says:

These are a lot of airports! Are you sure you’re not Tom Hanks? In the movie Terminal. Haha!

  7. Looks like you left a lot of broken hearts in airports, Marcos!

  8. I don’t know if you speak Spanish but I won’t presume of that and I’m writing this in English.

I have seen you liking my post “Bankia” on my blog IntelBook and I saw your profile and you seem to me quite a piece of work (in the good sense), I saw your pics on traveling into the USA and another countries.

It’s awesome to be such an adventurous guy so just wanted to add you on FB if you want to stay in touch with me. I’m sure we can talk a lot.

I send you a friend request in case you want to.

    À tout à l’heure, Jaume.

  9. Airports are my comfort zone! But I love them more when I’m the one leaving – not so much when I’m having to send someone off.

  10. Travel Culture Food says:

Lucky u! always traveling. nice pix.

  11. Tracy says:

Wow I can’t believe I’ve never thought of taking a picture at an airport. Airports have become such a hassle now I guess I don’t want to remember that time of the trip, but it’s nice to see someone enjoying it.

  12. leamuse says:

I hope you were in one place long enough to enjoy it?

  13. lotsboutnothin says:

People may find this crazy, but I wish I were you😉 traveling is such an exciting thing to do and I sometimes wish I’d have the guts to actually just take my backpack and travel the world. But well, I don’t have’m… Definitely gonna follow your blog, you seem to have an extraordinnary life! And thanks for your like on my post!🙂 keep it up, handsome!

Ah man I hear you… it feels like I spend more time in airports sometimes than regular life… in the past year I have been in : Toronto Airport, Boston Airport, Heathrow Airport ( five times) Madrid airport ( five times) , El Salvador airport, Atlanta Airport, New Jersey Airport, Texas airport, Guatemala airport, Barcelona airport, Sevilla airport … and I am pretty sure I am missing some. All the characters you find in an airport!! It’s so amusing! Maybe it’s just me, but I find strangers will tell me their life stories in airports. I wrote about it in a post called human tapestry haha

  15. Anita Mac says:

Great photo journal – love the flags in the shots.

  16. susanai says:

What is so different in your photos’ is that everyone looks so happy. Never see that at airports. Love your pics.

  17. Dugutigui says:

I don’t like waiting in airports for my bags. Even worse, I don’t like waiting in airports when my bags are lost. The worst part of traveling indeed.

But I like apport!! Or the paranormal transference of an article, me, from one place, my living room, to another without traversing the physical space between them, so please “Beam me up, Scotty.”

  18. markvgti says:

Some pretty interesting pictures (in the story that they tell)!

    • Marcos C. says:

Thank you, I agree, each picture brings back different memories, and triggers different reactions. That is exactly why I love them so much.

  19. That was not too bad, hitchhiking in one day to Paris. Believe me, I have done it a lot in Europe. It might help if you carry a board with your destination, in French, not in the English version of a city, but then Paris is Paris in any language. You might want to make sure what your origin is, yes a flag will do it.
Thanks for liking my post on Bali. If you like to go there, the town where young people go and surf is Kuta. Also much NGO work to be done there, still, in the country in other spots. It seems that there are still charity funds not spent from when the Tsunami hit in 2004 in Sumatra Acej province. As a Rotary volunteer you might want to echeck that out, it would be a different experience for you.
Good luck with the goodbyes every time you leave; you must have broken a few hearts by the look of it. ake care,
    Johanna van Zanten

I spent a career at an airport once. But, then, I was an air traffic controller for almost 35 years.

  21. neelkanth says:

    Interesting and attractive.

  22. Oh, wow… That’s a lot of travelling!

  23. L.J. Popp says:

My favorite airport is the Bangkok airport. So many free samples!

    • Marcos C. says:

Really? I have never been to Asia, but I can only imagine how cool it is!

      • L.J. Popp says:

Yep! Another one of my favorites is Singapore airport. I love the orchid decorations. Asian airlines in general are just better. They have newer planes, better service, and cheaper prices. I wonder why? Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog!

  24. ytrbyafye says:

It sounds like you have a very interesting life. You are gaining so much life experience by becoming absorbed in other cultures even if it is for a short period of time. Sounds like the good life.

  25. cariwiese says:

Thank you for the like on my blog post! I’m loving the pics, only you could make airports look like a destination instead of just an irritating part of the journey! Well done!

  26. Great idea for a collection of photos!

  27. KC says:

    Hi,

My name is KC Owens, I’m a college student and I love to travel! While cruising the Internet, I found your site and really enjoyed reading your posts. I have been to countries all over Europe with just my backpack and a camera. Since I am a college student and I have significant bills, it can be difficult to find ways to travel the world. However, I have done this several times, with less than ten pounds of luggage and while on a college dime!

I was hoping that you would allow me to write a post for your site to share my tips and tricks with your readers. I put a lot of time into my traveling, it is my biggest passion and I would love to inspire others by sharing my stories, mistakes and triumphs. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Best,

    KC Owens
